2026-2027 Bring your “A” game!

Week of September 21, 2026

We had another great week at Gotha. Progress reports went home last week, so please take a few minutes to review your student’s academic progress together and celebrate their successes. If you have questions or need additional support, please reach out to your student’s school counselor. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping every Grizzly succeed!

SAC Meeting Tuesday

Our School Advisory Council (SAC) will meet Tuesday, Sept. 22. This year, SAC will play an important role in the Florida School Recognition Program by working jointly with school staff to determine how recognition funds will be used. These funds may support nonrecurring staff bonuses, educational equipment or materials, or temporary personnel to help maintain and improve student performance. We welcome our families and community members to attend and participate in this important conversation. Learn more about the Florida School Recognition Program.

Start with Hello Week

Next week, Gotha will celebrate Start With Hello Week! This special week encourages students to reach out, include others, and help everyone feel seen and connected. A simple “hello” can make a meaningful difference, and we look forward to building an even kinder, more welcoming school community together.

As part of Start with Hello Week, we will be participating in Resiliency Day on Thursday.  Florida requires students in grades 6–12 to receive at least five hours of annual instruction in resiliency, civic and character education, and life skills.  Students will complete a 30-minute Canvas lesson and 30 minutes of college and career planning through Xello. Topics will include mental health awareness, coping strategies, available support resources, suicide and human trafficking prevention, and the impact of social media on mental health.  We will be on an altered bell schedule on Thursday 9/24.

LITERACY NEWS

Reading at home is one of the best ways students can strengthen their vocabulary, comprehension, and overall academic success. Please encourage your student to read for at least 20 minutes each evening and talk with them about what they are reading. Looking for a great book?
