8th Grade Address Verification

All 8th grade students must verify their address with their current school to avoid being left out of the summer rollover to high school. Please send or bring one of the following forms of address verification to the school (Gotha):

Required Documentation :
  • If you own a house: warranty deed, property taxes, closing contract, or homestead exemption card along with current utility bill, your ID with current address, and current mail.
  • If you rent a house or apartment: provide the signed lease, your ID with your current address, recent utility bill, proof of rent payments, current mail, and renters insurance.
  • If you live with someone who owns or rents the house: you must obtain a Verification of Residence from Student Enrollment Office. You will need to provide a minimum of the following documents:
  • Your ID with current address
  • Three items with your name and address dated within the last month, such as car registration, paystub, bank statement, insurance, phone bill, or current mail.
  • In addition, you must provide the ID of the lessee or homeowner and a copy of the lease or proof of homeownership.

FYI - all 5th grade students must complete this process at their current elementary schools as well.

Do You Know Someone who WANTS to be a Grizzly?

🐾 We are hosting a Transfer Fair on Thursday, March 5th at 6:00 PM in our Media Center. Potential families can come meet our admin team to see why Gotha MS is the perfect fit for their family! We’re here to make the transfer process as smooth as possible.

Help us get the word out by sharing this information with families looking for an awesome school community!

Literacy News

Our second DEAR DAY was a big hit. There is something powerful about a room full of students completely lost in a book. During DEAR time, our students pause their busy day to simply read!

Daily independent reading strengthens vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension while building focus and stamina. More importantly, it nurtures empathy, imagination, and a lifelong love of reading.

By giving students time to choose books that interest them, we are building confident, independent readers and creating a calm, focused culture where reading is valued and celebrated.

We are so proud of the way our students embrace DEAR time and the growth we see because of it!

OCPS Code of Student Conduct Updates

As always, the OCPS Code of Student Conduct can be found HERE.

The Importance of Being on Time
Arriving to class on time matters — especially in middle school. The first few minutes of each period are often used for warm-ups, important directions, and setting the tone for learning. When students are tardy, they miss key instruction and can quickly feel behind.

Beginning Monday, students who arrive late to periods 2-7 will need to report to an administrator to log their late arrival before entering class. Tardies will be tracked for parent contact and consequences. Per our school-wide discipline plan, multiple tardies may result in referrals.

Our goal is simple: we want every student in class, on time, and maximizing every learning opportunity.
