Shout Out to our PTO

This year’s 8th Grade Dance was truly a HUGE success and it would not have been possible without the incredible leadership of Alba Gheorghe and Renee Martin and their dedicated 8th Grade Dance Committee. Their time, creativity, and countless behind-the-scenes hours transformed an ordinary evening into something extraordinary for our students.

We are also so grateful to our Gotha families who donated supplies, decorations, refreshments, and their time to ensure every detail was just right. The level of care and commitment from our community was evident in every corner of the campus.

I wish I could share more pictures because they simply don’t do the night justice. What they can’t fully capture is the excitement, the friendships, and the feeling of celebration as our 8th graders marked one of their final milestones of middle school together.

Events like this remind us what makes our school community so special. When families and staff come together, our students benefit in the most meaningful ways. Thank you to everyone who played a part in creating a night our students will truly never forget.

WE NEED YOU!

We are so proud of the celebrations and special moments that make our school experience meaningful for students — from incentive days and A/B Honor Roll celebrations to Grizzly Greats character recognitions and events like the dance.

These moments don’t just happen on their own — they are made possible through the dedication and heart of our PTO.

As we look ahead to the 2026–27 school year, we are hoping to grow our PTO team! Right now, we have limited participation, and we truly need family involvement to continue providing the events and recognitions our students look forward to each year. Whether you can give a little time or take on a larger role, every bit of support makes a difference. Being part of the PTO is a wonderful way to stay connected, build community, and directly impact our students’ school experience.

Literacy News

We’re Reading Toward 50 Million Minutes!

OCPS has set an ambitious districtwide goal: 50,000,000 minutes read by April 30!

Since the start of the challenge, our students have already logged an incredible 75,620 minutes of reading and we’re just getting started!

Every minute read brings us closer to the district goal while strengthening literacy skills and building a lifelong love of reading. We are so proud of our students for rising to the challenge.

Let’s keep the momentum going — encourage your child to read daily and log those minutes. On Thursday we will hold another DEAR Day. The bell schedule can be found below. We will all be reading at the end of 5th period and will LOG THOSE MINUTES!

OCPS Code of Student Conduct Updates

As always, the OCPS Code of Student Conduct can be found HERE.

We are seeing more and more kids late to class. Beginning this week, students will need to report to an adult in the courtyard when they are late to class. The tardy will be logged and each week, I will contact parents for students who are late to class five or more times. We need to maximize instructional minutes, and getting to class on time is the first step.
