Gotha Update - Week of 10/19/2020

Gotha Families, here is your update for the week of October 19, 2020.

For our students on campus, we are making some changes in the morning to ensure social distancing in the courtyard.  6th graders will continue to report to the cafeteria once they have gotten breakfast.  8th graders will report to the gym.  ONLY 7th graders will be in the courtyard until that first bell rings and students can begin moving to their first period class. 

Parents - please help us in reminding your student, whether they are here in person or participating via LaunchEd, that they need to be in dress code.  Shorts/skirts need to be mid thigh and while tank tops are allowed this year, no undergarments should be visible. 

Our guidance counselors are beginning their weekly intervention days for LaunchEd students who are struggling with completing assignments and understanding content. If your student needs help, please contact their teachers or grade level counselors.

Report cards for the first nine weeks will be viewable on Skyward on October 21st.  We will not be mailing out report cards.  If you would like to request a report card be mailed home, please contact the school directly.

Thursday we will be our first of five hours of instruction to students in grades 6-12 related to youth mental health awareness and assistance required by the Florida Department of Education.  Here is the parent letter that went out October 5th.  If you do not want your student to participate, you can opt out using this form.  We will follow a modified bell schedule, with these activities taking place from 1:30 - 2:33.  ALL students, whether they are here on campus or at home, will participate.  

We are looking for parent members for our School Advisory Committee.  We meet this Monday virtually at 5:30pm.  The SAC receives principal updates and School Improvement Reports as well as having a vote in some school-related issues. The 2020-21 Gotha Yearbooks are for sale and are currently $30. You can purchase one by going to our school website and clicking on the link to purchase a yearbook or ad under the “Important Links” section of the page. Ads are available for any 8th grade student this year, so families and friends can purchase an ad to celebrate their 8th graders’ achievements. If you do not want your student featured in this year’s yearbook, please send an email to Mrs. Miller at [email protected]

ATHLETICS NOTE


At this time OCPS has decided to resume fall sports for the 20-21 school year. It is very important to get the Athletic Packet provided here on our website FULLY completed by parents, student, and physician. Once completed, SAVE the form and HOLD UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Do NOT turn it in to the school at this time. We are in the process of updating form submission via a new digital platform and will announce when this feature becomes available. Please WAIT for this announcement before submitting the completed packet. All OCVS, LaunchEd, and F2F students are eligible to tryout but MUST meet the GPA requirements and have an updated Athletic Packet for the 20-21 school year turned in. The Athletic Packet is different from the 7th grade Immunization form. Please contact Michelle Davis, Athletic Director, at [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns.
