Welcome to Gotha Middle School!

Gotha Update 2/26/2024

Monica Emery

Hello Gotha Families!

Congratulations to Javier Lassalle!   Javier is our Cambridge Learner Attribute Student of the Week.  He was nominated by Mr. Patrick for being ENGAGED.  Javier has been especially helpful in class, excited to participate, and closely following along with assignments. We’re so proud of Javier!

8th grade families, the 8th grade dance, The Candyland Sneaker Soirée, will take place March 9th from 5-8 pm. Tickets are available online at gothapto.ptboard.com and in the cafeteria during 8th-grade lunch on March 1st.  Our PTO is providing Chick-Fil-A for dinner and DonutNV for dessert.  There will be a DJ and the student-voted 8th Grade Superlatives will be announced.  Tickets are $25 and we’re looking forward to seeing our 8th graders celebrating on March 9th!

Track Tryouts will begin on Monday from 4:15 - 6:00. Athletes will report to the PE Hallway immediately following the last release of students for final dismissal. ONLY athletes who have already turned in their completed track registration may try out. No new registrations will be accepted at this point.

We need your help and your attendance at a Safety Night this Thursday at 6:00 pm.  Our school offers students the chance to participate in the Florida Future Problem Solving Program.  One division of FLFPS is Community Problem Solving. Gotha’s Community Problem Solving Team has been working on a school pedestrian safety project since October and was recently invited to participate in the State Level CmPS Project Fair in March based on their project proposal, Project Arrive Safely.  Students recognized a lack of crossing guards and pedestrian safety signs down Sixth Street and across Hempel Ave. to Yellow Dog Eats.  Our students have been working with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Crossing Guard Unit to help remedy this problem. Please join us on Thursday  at 6:00 pm. Students will share with you their survey and traffic observation data and provide more information on how YOU can help keep our students safe as they commute to school. This safety meeting is a large part of their final state project report. We will have giveaways and prizes as well.

LITERACY FOCUS OF THE WEEK
Spring Break is quickly approaching and it’s not too late to get your Orange County Library card!  The libraries have fun and free events throughout the week.  Sign up for your card HERE

CODE OF CONDUCT REMINDER

Gotha School Wide Discipline Plan
Our third quarter incentive day on March 12th and will be a Minute to Win It themed game day.  This is a celebration for all kids who have NO referrals in Q3.   Please remind your student that they have four minutes to get to class.  There should be no hanging around in the courtyard.  Four minutes is plenty of time if they use it wisely.

THIS WEEK AT THE SCHOOL
