Welcome to Gotha Middle School!
Gotha Update 3/20/2023

Hello Gotha Families!
I hope everyone had a GREAT break. Welcome to the 4th quarter of the school year! I am looking forward to finishing strong.
We are kicking off an official Kindness Campaign to recognize kids who choose kindness each and every day. Teachers and staff members will be able to nominate students for acts of kindness. All nominees will receive a small token of appreciation weekly. Each week those nominees will enter a drawing for an official KINDNESS SHIRT! If you would like to donate a shirt, you can visit our Wish List HERE. We will also be using the generous donations to our Gotha Community Spirit and Incentive Fund. We’re excited to continue to spread kindness!
In the past, I have asked parents and family members for STAFF shout outs. As we begin working toward the end of this school year, I’d love to hear from all of you about instances where a staff member has gone above and beyond for your Gotha student! Please send your shout outs to me at [email protected]
As a reminder, if you need to drop your student off prior to 9:00, please register for the YMCA Before School Program. The cost is $25/ week, however scholarships are available. Our YMCA After School Zone is completely FREE. There is no supervision at the front of the school after 4:30pm. If you cannot pick your child up before 4:30 they will need to be registered for the YMCA ASZ.
LITERACY FOCUS OF THE WEEK
I know schedules for families are incredibly busy. However, as we get closer to the end of the school year and testing season, I cannot stress enough the importance for kids to have quiet time - time to read and relax and get off of social media, devices and games. Check out this article listing five reasons why reading is so important for student success.

Please remind your student that electronic devices should be off and concealed throughout the school day so they do not become a distraction. Devices include, but are not limited to phones, earbuds, headphones, Apple Watches, etc. Confiscated devices will result in a parent pick up. We appreciate your support as we strive to keep the kids engaged and focused throughout the school day.

Every day we say “It’s a Great Day to be a Grizzly.” We want to build a common understanding of what that really means - to our staff, our students, and our community. Please take a minute to let us know what being a grizzly means to your family here. We will use all of the answers to create one vision for our school!
There are a variety of ways to support the school! Our Gotha community has always been incredibly generous and supportive. We are currently in need of some items to support our school.
