Arts & Electives
What is each one about?
Art
Art is offered to students in 6/7/8 grades. Students learn the principals of design and apply those principals to multiple different art projects. Students also learn about careers in art and apply information to real-world examples. Art does have an Activity Fee.
Band
We offer Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced, and Jazz Band. In Band, students learn how to play an instrument and perform multiple times a year. The Band also performs at the annual MPA where they are judged. The band takes field trips and does have an Activity Fee.
Chorus
We offer Female and Male Chorus. In Chorus students learn how to sing and perform multiple times a year. The Chorus also performs at the annual MPA where they are judged. Chorus takes field trips and does have an Activity Fee.
Computers
Want Industry Certification? Computers are for you. We offer classes that allow students to get basic knowledge all the way through high school courses that can earn student certifications on different programs.
Drama
In Drama students learn what it means to be an actor. Students work on productions in class and culminate in a school musical in the spring. Past musicals have been Beauty and the Beast Jr., Schoolhouse Rocks Jr., Hairspray Jr., and The Little Mermaid Jr.,
EDGE
In today's world students need to know the processes and have the skills to be ready for college and careers. EDGE is a program that helps students to see their potential and grow during the middle school years so that they are college ready by the end of 8th grade.
Guitar
We offer Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced Guitar. In Guitar, students learn how to play an instrument and perform multiple times a year. The guitar class also performs at the annual MPA where they are judged. Guitar has an Activity Fee.
Keyboarding
We offer Keyboarding 1,2,& 3. In Keyboarding, students learn how to play the piano. Since this is a self-paced class, students perform for the teacher who works with students individually to hone skills.
Orchestra
We offer Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Orchestra. In Orchestra students learn how to play an instrument and perform multiple times a year. Orchestra also performs at the annual MPA where they are judged. Orchestra goes on field trips and has an Activity Fee.
Spanish
Spanish is one of the major languages in the world. We offer beginning, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2 for students. This will allow students to complete the foreign language requirement prior to entering high school and freeing up space in high school schedules or the chance to take AP Spanish in high school.
