Welcome to Gotha Middle School!
Gotha Update 12/4/2023

Hello Gotha Families!
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. Progress reports for Quarter 2 were available on Skyward Family Access last week. Please reach out to your student’s school counselor or teachers if you have questions about grades.
Congratulations to Harper Martin. Harper is this week’s Cambridge Learner Attribute Student of the Week. She was nominated by Ms. Lentine for being RESPONSIBLE. Harper came up with some new study techniques to prepare for a recent test! Congratulations to Harper!
This week students will participate in state testing for Reading and Math. This is the second round of testing. Teachers will be able to compare this date to the data from the August test to better understand how to best prepare students for the end of the year testing. Please make sure students are on time to school Tuesday and Thursday and are getting a good night’s sleep. We will be on altered bell schedules those days.
Our Girls Volleyball team are Cluster Champs and are moving on to the playoffs. They will be playing their 1st match at HOME on Tuesday December 5th @ 6:00 P.M. Come out and make some noise for our team! Tickets are sold on Gofan.co and will be $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students. We hope to see you there!
If your student is interested in trying out for our Grizzly Basketball team in January, all documents and information must be completed and uploaded on Aktivate by December 18th. Information about Aktivate and tryouts can be found on the Student Body Canvas page, on the Gotha Middle website, and on the Athletic Board outside of the Gym. There is also a QR code to access the Digital Upload Portal for the athletic physical. All documents are uploaded online, no paperwork will be accepted in person. Contact Coach Davis for more information at [email protected].
If your student is a car rider, please note that students should be picked up no later than 4:30pm. After 4:30 there is limited supervision as the school is closed. If you are not able to pick your student up by 4:30, please consider registering for the YMCA After School program. Information can be found here.
LITERACY FOCUS OF THE WEEK
Winter Break is quickly approaching and it’s a great time to set aside just 30 minutes a day to read with your child. Check out these titles that could be perfect for your student. Remember, you don’t have to buy books! If you have a library card you can order books from the Orange County Library and they will be sent right to your house FREE!
