Gotha Update - Week of November 30, 2020

Hello Gotha Families.  Here is your update for the week of November 30, 2020.

If you are like me and using Amazon to shop this holiday season, you can donate to our school with one small step!  On your mobile device in your Amazon app, go to settings and click AMAZONSMILE.  If you are working from a computer, you can sign up here.  By choosing Gotha Middle School PTO Inc as your preferred charity, Amazon will donate a percentage of the sale back to the school at no cost to you.  This is a quick and easy way to help us raise money that will impact our students, staff and families!

I’m sure you have all seen the small, white donation station at the front of our school driveway.  If you’re cleaning out your closets this season and have those bags of clothes to donate, consider bringing them up to the school and placing them in that bin.  We receive fundraising dollars based on weight and those funds can be used in any way to support our school.

The 12 Days of Gotha Holidays begins on Thursday!

Monday 11/30

Tuesday 12/1

Wednesday 12/2

Thursday 12/3

Candy Cane Day - wear red/white/stripes

Friday 12/4

Arctic Chill Day - where lots of BLUE

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!  I hope everyone is well.  Remember if your student is not feeling well, please keep them home.  If you or someone in your household has tested positive for COVID 19, please let us know.  Your student will need to stay at home and follow the FDOH quarantine guidelines, even if they’ve tested negative.  Stay safe, and as always, it’s a great day to be a grizzly!

8th Grade Behavior Contract - 8th Grade parents, students reviewed and signed off on the behavior contract before the break.  We need parents to sign off as well.  If you haven’t already, please read and complete the PARENT SURVEY.  Students will not be able to attend 8th grade activities, including Gradventure, without parent and student acknowledgement of the behavior contract.

Please remember that we have set up daily Learning Labs from 4:30 - 6:00pm through the YMCA After School Zone.  The YMCA ASZ is a free program for families.  We are inviting our face to face and [email protected] students to participate in this face to face tutoring time on campus.  Students would need to wear a mask and be signed up for the YMCA program.
Please complete the survey found by clicking of the link below if you are interested:

The 2020-21 Gotha Yearbooks are for sale and are currently $30. Go to our school website and click on the link to purchase a yearbook or ad under the “Important Links” section of the page. Ads are available for any 8th grade student this year, so families and friends can purchase an ad to celebrate their 8th graders’ achievements. If you do not want your student featured in this year’s yearbook, please send an email to Mrs. Miller at [email protected]

At this time OCPS has decided to resume fall sports for the 20-21 school year. It is very important to get the Athletic Packet provided here on our website FULLY completed by parents, student, and physician. Once FULLY completed, return the packet to the school. All OCVS, LaunchEd, and F2F students are eligible to tryout but MUST meet the GPA requirements and have an updated Athletic Packet for the 20-21 school year turned in. The Athletic Packet is different from the 7th grade Immunization form. Please contact Michelle Davis, Athletic Director, at [email protected] if you have any further questions or concerns.
